Triumph at Carville (2008) John Wilhelm (Director), Sally Squires (Director)| Rated: Not Rated
In the early 1900’s, an old southern plantation in Louisiana was converted to the first, and only, leper colony in the United States. This film shows the history of the place, features interviews with former patients, and gives you an idea about what it was like to live there. It also shows how a doctor was able to use a medicine intended for tuberculosis to treat the patients. This medicine worked and became the first cure for leprosy.
